A funeral service was held Oct. 15 at Lakewood Funeral Home for R.J. Alvah Barney, 17, of Roberts Ferry. The Hughson High School senior died Oct. 7, 2011 in a solo accident in Merced County.
Born Sept. 8, 1994, R.J. was a senior at Hughson High School, where he participated in wrestling, football, and was a member of the FFA. R.J. enjoyed hunting, fishing, skateboarding, snowboarding, riding quads and motorcycles, and hanging out with his family and friends. He spent much of his time outdoors on the family farm and in the shop. R.J. worshiped at Community Baptist Church in Waterford.
He leaves behind his parents, Rowe and Linda Barney of Roberts Ferry; and two sisters, Kayla Barney and Alexis Barney, both of Roberts Ferry. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ike and Ann Barney.
