A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 25 at the Watson United Methodist Church in Watson, Ill., for Robert Alan Martin, 69, of Ceres. He died on May 18, 2011 at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.
A celebration of his life was held Saturday afternoon.
Interment will be in the family plot at the Watson Cemetery following the service.
Born Sept. 1, 1941, Robert spent 30 years as a Naval aviation electronics technician and radio operator, a job which took him to every corner of the globe aboard planes like the V2P7 or the P3B. In 1962 he married Dianne Guillard of Santa Monica, who survives. In 2003 he moved from Ridgecrest to Ceres to be near his daughter and grandchildren. For the past four years Mr. Martin served as treasurer of the Turlock Youth Performing Arts, a non-profit children's theater company. Robert Alan was also a weekly docent for the Castle Air Museum in Atwater.
He leaves behind his children, Jon R. Martin of Watson, James F. Martin of San Jose, and Janice Anderson of Ceres; his sister, Alice Martin of New Berlin, Ill.; his grandchildren, Sarah Martin, Sean Martin and Delia Martin of Effingham, Ill., Savannah Martin and Sophia Martin, both of San Jose, and Megan Anderson and Mackenzie Anderson, both of Ceres; and his great-grandson, Peyton Alwardt of Effingham. He was preceded in death by his parents.
