Services were held at Lakewood Memorial Funeral Chapel for Ronald Lee Murphy, 55, of Ceres. He died after being struck by a car in a May 2, 2009 hit and run vehicle crash.

Born May 22, 1953,R on was very invovled in sports such as track and baseball while in school. He developed a brain tumor in 1974, which resulted in his blindness but he didn't let that stop him from playing and coaching baseball for the First Southern Baptist Church in Ceres. Mr. Murphy loved baseball and always made sure he had baseball equipment available for family gatherings.

Ron also enjoyed being with friends and family, camping, fishing and spreading the Word of God.

He leaves behind brothers Robert Murphy of Nebraska, Randy Murphy of Modesto, Nelson Murphy of Stockton and Kenneth Murphy of Oakdale; his sisters, Linda Reed of Arizona, Vivian Regello of Ceres, and Diania Barker of Ceres; his aunt/mother, Virginia Murphy; and three sets of uncles and aunts, Truman and Sheila Murphy, Ralph and Eva Murphy, Bob and Jo Duck.
