A memorial service was held Tuesday at Franklin & Downs Colonial Chapel for Ronald M. Hackett, 82. He died on Dec. 27, 2011 in Modesto.

Burial was at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Born to Lester and Elsie Hackett on August 14, 1929 in Modesto, Ronald called the Modesto/Ceres areas his home his entire life. He was honorably discharged from the Army and made his career in law enforcement as a Stanislaus County Sheriff after 26 years of service. He attended First Christian Church, was a coordinator for the United Way, and was a member of th Lions Club, Modesto Elks Lodge, Elks Good Timers RV of which he was president, Peace Officers Association and was the past president of RESCO.

He leaves behind his wife of 41 years Judy Hackett of Modesto; his children, Christopher Hackett of Jamestown, Bradley Hackett of Modesto, Stewart Hackett of Modesto and Pamela Hackett Guevara of Modesto; four grandchildren, Aaron Rice, Alyssa Wallace, Robert Jones and Travis Hackett; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents Lester and Elsie Hackett, son Greg Jones Hackett and brothers Kenneth and Lawrence Hackett.
