Rosalind M. Mendes

A funeral service was held Friday at the Colonial Chapel of Franklin & Downs for Rosalind Mary Mendes, 76, of Oakdale. She died April 11, 2008.

Born June 17, 1931, Mrs. Mendes was a native of Cressey, born to Antonio B. Rocha and Mary Florence Rocha. She and her family later moved to Livingston and then Modesto where her family owned and operated their dairy farm. Rosalind graduated from Ceres High School in 1949. For the past 31 years she has been a resident of Oakdale. Mrs. Mendes was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church of Modesto. She was a homemaker and loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed her family, music, singing and church.

Mrs. Mendes leaves behind her three sons Loren R. Mendes of Turlock, Edward J. Mendes Sr. of Ceres and Gilbert A. Mendes of Modesto; three sisters, Lorraine Nicholson and Marie Davis, both of Modesto and Marcella Favelo of Reedley; and eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Tony Rocha Jr. and her godmother Mable Silveria Brubaker.
