Services were held for Ruby Mae Robinson, 86, of the Ceres-South Modesto area. She died March 12, 2009.

Born Sept. 14, 1912, Mrs. Robinson worked over 30 years with Banquet Foods and John Engle Foods. During the Depression she fed her family by share-cropping and doing migrant field work. Despite her small size at 4-foot-9, Mrs. Robinson she designed and built her first home in 1947 and also often helped church construction projects. Ruby spent many years conducting a home-based business where she refurbished bikes and small electrical appliances and sold them at a local swap meet. She enjoyed painting and completed over 110 paintings, and enjoyed shop[ing at thrift stores. Mrs. Robinson enjoyed participating in the various senior citizens events and won the Easter hat competition for three consecutive years, as well as her apple-head doll contests. She enjoyed collecting antique figurines and dolls and recently began sculpting small clay figurines.

She leaves behind her children, Marie Robinson of Keyes, Ray Robinson of Modesto, Russell Robinson of Hughson, Leroy Robinson of Idaho, and Jimmy Robinson of Virginia; and 15 grandchildren, over 33 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband Herman Robinson.
