A funeral service was held Friday at St. Jude's Catholic Church for Ruth Marion Bushman Geranen Rennie, 92, of Ceres. She died June 8, 2012.
Burial was at Lakewood Memorial Park.
Born Oct. 3, 1919 in Pierre, S.D., to Guy and Marion Bushman of Pierre, Ruth was a homemaker and an active member of St. Jude's Catholic Church, the Ceres Woman's Club and the Ceres Senior Citizens Club for many years. She received multiple awards and resolutions for her efforts on behalf of these clubs. She was named "Outstanding Senior of the Year" in 2002. Her volunteer efforts on behalf of the Ceres Womans Club, St. Jude and the Ceres Senior, included a variety of fundraisers to help those less fortunate during her tenure of over 20 years.
She leaves behind her children, Allan Geranen, Jon Geranen, Curtis Geranen, Colin "David" Rennie and Susan Geranen; her brother, Howard Bushman; and seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husbands Allen Geranen and Colin E. Rennie, her parents, grandson Clayton Geranen, and siblings Genevieve Waggoner, Marjorie Hladky, Robert Bushman and Donald Bushman.
