The Colonial Chapel of Franklin & Downs was in charge of arrangements for Sammy Jo Day Campbell, 80, of Modesto. She died Monday, July 11, 2005 at English Oaks Convalescent Hospital in Modesto.
Born Oct. 19, 1924, Mrs. Campbell was a native of Estelline, Texas, and had lived in Modesto since 1960. She had retired after working as a waitress at Lew and Ted's Truck Stop in South Modesto, which her husband owned.
She leaves behind her caregiver, Joanne Decker of Ceres; and her stepdaughter, Gloria Ely of Kenai, Alaska. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lew Campbell.
