A funeral service was held Saturday at the Ceres Chapel of Franklin & Downs for Samual Lee Johnson, 90, of Ceres. He died March 17, 2008.

Burial was at Ceres Memorial Park.

Born March 27, 1917, Mr. Johnson was a native of Rush Springs, Okla., and came to California in 1942, and moved to the Ceres area in 1959. Mr. Johnson served in the Army during World War II. He was a member of the United Pentecostal Church. Mr. Johnson enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, and finding bargains at garage sales.

He leaves behind two daughters, Lois Taylor of Pocatella, Idaho and Melinda Black of Ceres; and six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and eight great-great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years Alla Mae Johnson.
