A funeral service was held Saturday at Progressive Missionary Baptist Church in Modesto for Sonya M. Thompson, 42, of Ceres. She died May 4, 2005 at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.

Burial was private under the direction of Eaton Family Funeral Home.

Born Oct. 11, 1962, Ms. Thompson was a native of Nashua, N.H., and lived in Ceres for 14 years. She was a phlebotomist for one year. Mrs. Thompson was a member of Progressive Missionary Baptist Church in Modesto, and enjoyed singing in the choir. She also enjoyed gymnastics.

Mrs. Thompson leaves behind her three children, Stephonia Terry of Ceres, Sonere Roberson of San Diego and Dante Baker of Nashua, N.H.; her stepfather and mother, Alvin and Barbara Baker-Williams of Williams; three brothers, Pierce Baker of Oakdale, Gregory Thompson of San Jose and Christopher Baker of Sunnyvale; and her sister, Velma Campbell of Grovetown, Ga. She was preceded in death by her son Frederic Roberson; and one sister.
