A memorial service was held at Allen Mortuary Saturday for Stanley Clifford Johnson, 93, of Turlock. He died Saturday, June 28, 2008 in Turlock.

Burial was at Turlock Memorial Park.

Stanley was born Oct. 18, 1914 in Lancaster, Minn., to Carl August and Clara Margaret Johnson. He was the oldest of six children. He served in the Army from 1942-43 and was stationed in Texas. After a medical discharge, he married Margaret Eleanor Danielson of Turlock and they made their first home in Oakland. Mr. Johnson worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a rural mail carrier, first in Hayward, and then in Hughson. He retired after 35 years. Mr. Johnson was known for always going the extra mile for patrons and made sure they received each and every letter or package on time. He was a member of Turlock Covenant Church. Mr. Johnson enjoyed raising Angus and Gelbvieh cattle, riding horses, being a 4-H leader and growing vegetables and flowers, especially award winning dahlias.

He leaves behind his wife, Margaret Johnson of Turlock; two children, daughter Patricia Lee Mathews of Dinuba, Gerald "Jerry" Wayne Johnson of Yuba City; his brother, Harris Johnson of Tucson, Ariz.; his sister, Ellen Loney of North Logan, Utah; four grandchildren, Scott Mathews of Dinuba, Stephanie Mathews of Glendora, Greta Johnson of Covina, Erika (Johnson) Pesnell of Yuba City; and one great-grandchild, Lukas Johnson. He was preceded in death by sisters Hildur Flint and Amy Tschida and brother Ralph Johnson.
