A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Lakewood Memorial Park for Thelma Jean Byfield Eikenberry, 77, of Modesto. She died Sunday, June 26, 2005 at Memorial Medical Center.

Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Born Feb. 14, 1928, Mrs. Eikenberry was a native of Hughson and had lived in Modesto since 1943. She was a day care provider for 12 years, and previously worked as a beautician for eight years. Mrs. Eikenberry was a member of Mended Hearts and the Church of the Brethren. She enjoyed cooking and collecting cookbooks, dolls, salt and pepper shakers and elephants.

She leaves behind four children, Inajean Smith and Debra Sanders, both of Modesto, Albert M. Edgecomb of Ceres and Raymond R. Edgecomb Jr. of Boise, Idaho; two stepchildren, Daniel W. Eikenberry of Santa Rosa and Fred L. Eikenberry of Pacifica; and 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Eikenberry; and one sister.
