Tim Edwards

Jan 16, 1960 - Jan, 2016

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 30 at The Healing Place in Hughson for Tim Edwards, 56. He died Friday, Jan. 22, 2016 in Modesto after fighting a battle with cancer.

Tim was born January 16, 1960, in Ceres to Gilford and Nina Edwards. He was the youngest of 6 children. A long-time resident of Ceres, Tim graduated from Ceres High School in 1978.

He met his wife, Darla Baxter, on a blind date and they were married December 8, 1979. They recently celebrated 36 years of marriage.

Tim began a career in Emergency Services as an explorer with the Stanislaus County Sherriff's Departments at the age of 15. He was a police officer for Newman Police Department and a reserve officer for Waterford Police Department. In addition, he served as an EMT and a volunteer firefighter for Industrial Fire Department where he obtained many certifications and rose to the rank of Battalion Chief.

During his time as a volunteer fireman, Tim began a career as a Pavement Preservation Specialist. At the time of his death he worked for Pavement Maintenance Supplies Incorporated, a division of Crafco.

Tim was a member of The Healing Place in Hughson where he led worship. He served as a music minister at several churches over the years. He delighted in ushering congregations into the presence of God through music and mentored many along the way. He was active in music ministry in his community by being involved with Concerts in the Park and other community events.

He loved the beach, attending NASCAR races, and camping. He enjoyed traveling, especially to Hawaii, and took cruises whenever possible. Spending time with his family was important and his grandchildren were his most precious accomplishments.

He is survived by wife Darla; daughter Kristina Overman and her husband Joshua; son Kyle Edwards; grandchildren Ethan, Lilly, Caleb, and Autumn; his brothers and sisters Donna Cope, Bill Edwards, Carol Hawn, Michael Edwards; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Gilford in 1995 and his mother, Nina in 2002.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions in Tim's honor be donated to finish the sound and video project he started to The International Healing Place, P. O. Box 1359, Hughson, CA 95326 (please note Tim Edwards in the memo).
