A Mass will be at 9 a.m. today (Wednesday) at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church for Uriel Zapien, 17, of South Modesto. He died Wednesday, June 8, 2005 at Doctors Medical Center.
A graveside service will follow at Ceres Memorial Park under the direction of Cunningham's Chapel.
Born Oct. 13, 1987, Uriel was a native of Hollister and had lived in Modesto three years. He was a student at Modesto High School. Uriel enjoyed playing basketball.
He leaves behind his mother, Vitalina Mendez of South Modesto; four brothers, Jose Zapien, Danny Zapien, Omar Zapien and Reyes Zapien, all of Modesto; and his grandparents, Miguel and Fidelina Zapien of Modesto and Samuel Mendez and Maria De Jesus of New Jersey. He was preceded in death by his father, Uriel Zapien Sr.
