Vincent E. Bavaro

A Mass will be held at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday) at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Hughson for Vincent Eugene Bavaro, 81, of Hughson. He died at his home, on September 6, 2007.

Committal will follow at St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery.

The McHenry Chapel of Franklin & Downs was in charge of arrangements.

Born Sept. 25, 1925, Mr. Bavaro was a native of Oakland and attended Oakland schools. He taught accordion lessons, and worked at the Oakland Naval Shipyard and served in World War II in Germany. After the war, he settled in Hughson. Mr. Bavaro continued teaching accordion lessons, farmed with his father, and developed a residential subdivision prior to his retirement at the age of 58.

Mr. Bavaro was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Italian Catholic Federation, Branch 316 and the Society of Our Lady of Costantinopoli.

He leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Portia Bavaro of Hughson; his children, Don Bavaro, Rosalie Bavaro, Palma Ann Costa; his sister, Laura Fagundes of Oregon; two grandchildren, Kristyn Costa, Brittany Costa; and his great-grandson, Logan Kula. He was preceded in death by his parents.
