A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday October 26) at St. Jude's Catholic Church, 3824 Mitchell Road, Ceres, for Vito Owen Fontana, 50, of Ceres. He died Oct. 15, 2011 at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.
A committal service will follow at 12:15 p.m. at Ceres Memorial Park, 1801 E. Whitmore Ave., Ceres.
Born June 9, 1961 in Modesto, Vito grew up in Ceres. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1980 and practiced Catholicism his entire life. He was employed by Los Amigos. Mr. Fontana enjoyed barbequing and surrounding himself with family and friends. As a member of the California Transplant Donor Network, Vito was able to save and improve lives through organ donation.
He leaves behind his parents, Vito Fontana and Barbara Kirkpatrick; his brothers, Frank Fontana and Sam Fontana; his sister, Sue Moniz; his sister-in-law, Terri Fontana; his nephews, Vito Fontana, Vinnie Fontana, Gino Fontana and Junior Moniz; and two nieces, Kadee Moniz and Amy Fontana. He also leaves behind four great nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family will be accepting donations at the service.
