A funeral was held Monday morning at the Colonial Chapel of Franklin & Downs for Wanda L. Tucker Mathers, 80, of Modesto. The former Keyes resident died Friday, Aug. 13, 2004 at her home.

Burial was at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Born Sept. 7, 1923, Mrs. Mathers was a native of Short, Okla., and lived in Modesto for 60 years. She previously lived in Keyes for six years. Mrs. Mathers worked in the catering business. She was a member of Eagles Lodge 83, Sweet Adelines and Mothers of Note. Mrs. Mathers and her sisters were a singing group known as the Tucker Sisters.

She leaves behind her husband, Harold H. Mathers of Modesto; three children, Dean Mathers and Dale Mathers, both of Modesto, and Don Mathers of Temple, Okla.; three brothers, Earlen "Red" Tucker and Frank Tucker, both of Oklahoma, and Kenneth Tucker of Modesto; three sisters, Wilma Eager of Oklahoma, Evie Matheny of Copperopolis and Glenda Woodruff of Empire; and six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
