Wayne Streeter

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today (Wednesday) and from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lakewood Funeral Home for Wayne Streeter, 90, of Modesto. He died Friday, Jan. 20, 2006 at Turlock Nursing Center.

A chapel service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Born May 10, 1915, Mr. Streeter was a native of Ceres and lived in Modesto for 63 years. He was a wood shop teacher at Downey High School for 23 years. Mr. Streeter also had worked as a draftsman for the city of Modesto and as a carpenter. He started the regional Build a Home Program at Downey High School in 1956. Mr. Streeter was a member of First Baptist Church in Hughson. He was a Mason and a member of Masonic Lodge 675 F&AM of Modesto. Mr. Streeter was an airplane enthusiast and enjoyed radio-controlled airplanes. He served as a Seabee in the Navy during World War II.

He leaves behind his wife, Marilynn Streeter of Modesto; two children, Will Streeter of Modesto and Carla Stearns of Coronado; five brothers, Leroy Streeter, Jerry Streeter, Laverne Streeter and Glen Streeter, all of Modesto, and Bud Streeter of Santa Rosa; three sisters, Fern Lee Ingwerson of Santa Rosa, and Erma Hosmer and Peggy Laughlin, both of Modesto; and seven grandchildren and 12 greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister.
