William “Bill” Bettencourt, age 78, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, April 1, 2023, after a full day of love, hugs, and kisses from his family and friends. Bill was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend to all and will be greatly missed.

Bill was born on September 24, 1944, in Ceres to parents Frank and Lorraine Bettencourt. He grew up in Ceres and graduated from Ceres High School in 1962. Bill worked at Gallo Winery for over 30 years and retired in 2002. He was well respected by his colleagues and known for his strong work ethic and integrity.

In his free time, Bill enjoyed spending time with family and friends, telling stories, traveling, treasure hunting, working on home projects, and spending time in the mountains. He was always prepared with a good joke and loved putting a smile on people’s faces.

Bill is survived by his three children, Jeff (Andrea) Bettencourt, Steven Bettencourt, and Kristi (Brian) Cody; his two sisters, Lorraine Daniel and Frances Cadwell; and his five grandchildren, Luke Bettencourt, Paige Cody, Morgan Rockefeller, Logan Cody and Sydney Bettencourt.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and sister Patricia Robinson.

A Celebration of Life for Bill will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 22 at Lakewood Funeral Home in Hughson.

William truly never met a stranger, and his memory will live on through the many stories he shared with those he loved. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
