Whitehurst, Norton & Dias Funeral Chapel in Turlock was in charge of a private service for William Culver Simms, 76, of Ceres. He died Sept. 16 , 2005 at his home.

Born Jan. 19, 1929, Mr. Simms was a native of Alabama and lived in Ceres a few months. He was a teacher for five years.

He leaves behind his companion, Dong Seon Weed of Ceres.
