A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at the Colonial Chapel of Franklin & Downs, 704 12th St., Modesto, for Woodrow Wilson Olds, Jr., 70, of Modesto. The former Ceres resident died peacefully of cancer on Dec. 16, 2010 at home surrounded by family.

Born July 18, 1940, Woodrow had many faithful friends from his school days in Ceres. Before retirement he worked various jobs, including construction with his son, Eddie. He enjoyed fishing, and watching sports, especially having friends over to watch the fights. He enjoyed family get-togethers and was especially close to his mother, whom he lovingly called Gracie May. They enjoyed many adventures together and were by his side until the end. Weeks before his death, Mr. Olds became a Christian.

He leaves behind three children, Cindy Fulton, Patti Olds and Eddie Olds; his mother, Grace Olds; his sister, Patricia Arbizu; two grandchildren, Ashley Cosgrove and Madison Olds; and a great-grandson, Pryce Looney. He was preceded in death by his father Woodrow Olds, Sr.
