Background: Ceres residents now have a "auto spa" to help their vehicle running well and looking great.

Premier Car Wash & Oil Service opened Sept. 14 in southeast Ceres but will be celebrating its grand opening on Nov. 10. One building features a drive-thru car wash tunnel where washes start at $6 but range to a $8 deluxe, $10 "the works" and $12 premier wash which includes tire and wheel cleaning, tire shine and total surface gloss.

"We try to put a personal touch on all of them," said manager Anita Scharmann of the washes. "We get a lot of repeat customers to the point they know the crew's names. I call this the auto spa. We don't detail cars yet but we help dry and vacuum. We consider this a full service car wash."

Free use of vacuums are available for owners to clean the interiors of their vehicles.

The result is many returning customers, she said. The location of the wash has been attracting Highway 99 travelers, Sheriff's Department patrol officers as well as Hughson area drivers.

The other building is a four-bay service shop where Pennzoil oil changes are performed as well as air filter changes, transmission fluid drain and fill service and coolant flushes. Cabin air filters in newer cars are also serviced. Rear-end service is offered. The mechanic crew can also check and replace radiator hoses and serpentine belts.

"My guys are so honest," said Scharmann, explaining that services aren't recommended unless needed.

The business offers a place for customers to kick back and relax while work is being done on the car. A refreshment room sells snacks and drinks and offers free Wifi.

Voulgarakis would like to see a chain of car washes modeled after his establishment.
