A collection effort is being organized by a downtown Ceres business that will ultimately place stuffed animals into the hands of all 46 residents at the Hale Aloha Convalescent Hospital in Ceres.

Stacy Young of Embroidery Plus, 2415 Lawrence Street, is spearheading the "Drive For Love" effort in the hopes that the public can help donate new or gently used stuffed Teddy Bears and other animals for the residents. The business is collecting the stuffed animals at their shop, as is Diamond Bar Arena on South Central Avenue in rural Ceres. Animals are also being collected at High Fashion Salon on Fourth Street; and at the Ceres Community Center.

The public is invited to participate with a deadline of Dec. 12. The animals will then be turned over to Ceres firefighters who will be delivering them at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 14. Any leftovers will be distributed to the Redwood Family Center in Ceres, said Young.

Embroidery Plus is open Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
