Jason Beckhart, Luis Saucedo, Ryan Hendrix, Christian Oliver, Severo Vazquez, Will Sprouse, Jaden Cooper, Kyle Hendrix, Ruben Valenzuela, Caleb Beckhart and Adrian Villareal will represent the Ceres Hawks Wrestling Club at the Reno Worlds Tournament this weekend.

“This is the largest youth wrestling tournament in the world,” coach Rob Beckhart said. “They have over 3,400 kids competing this year. More than 40 states are being represented.”

Jason Beckhart (18-and-under bracket, 220 pounds), Saucedo (15&under, 108s), Ryan Hendrix (15&under, 125s), Oliver (15&under, 125s), Vazquez (18&under, 138s), Sprouse (15&under, 132s) and Cooper (15&under, 135s) will compete in the high-school division.

Kyle Hendrix (12&under, 92s), Valenzuela (12&under, 110s), Caleb Beckhart (6&under, 55s) and Villareal (6&under, 43s) will compete in the youth division.

“It’s a huge opportunity for those kids,” coach Beckhart said. “They’ve all been working hard at practice. We’re not placing any expectations on them in terms of placing and winning matches. We just want to see them work hard.”

Former Central Valley High School standout grappler Ethan Rotondo (15&under, 101s) will be representing Union High School in Reno. Rotondo placed second in the Washington State-4A tournament this year.

The Reno Worlds tourney will be staged at the Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center this Saturday and Sunday.

“I wish we were able to take more kids,” Rob Beckhart said. “It’s big for them to be able to go out there and get that experience. I’m excited to see what they can do.”
