Ceres High School's varsity wrestling team opened the Western Athletic Conference dual-meet season with a 59-16 win over shorthanded Livingston on Thursday at Phil de la Porte Gymnasium.

"I thought they were going to have a full team," Bulldogs head coach Jon Nowicki said. "They were missing a couple of people. That helped us out."

Ceres High won 10 of their 13 individual matches versus the Wolves.

Gabe Balderas pinned Livingston's Eulalio Ruiz in the first round (1:36) during their 126-pound matchup.

Freshman Tyree Williams pinned David Lomeli in the first round (1:20) at 182 pounds.

Gabe Solis pinned Edgar Pimentel in the first round (1:45) at 138 pounds.

David Cisneros won by second-round pin (3:50) against Jesus Sierra at 160 pounds.

Bruno de la Torre won by second-round pin (3:36) against Darey Barajas at 132 pounds.

Armando Morales won by third-round pin (5:12) against Rafael Millan at 285 pounds.

Joey Bettencourt won by technical fall (18-3) over Christian Mancera at 120 pounds.

Ruben Sanchez (220s), Matt Lopes (195s) and Austin Moore (152s) all won by forfeit.

Ceres High's Daniel Raya, Alex Zuniga and Felix Hercules dropped their respective matches.

Raya lost by major decision (12-0) to Christian Moreno at 145 pounds.

Zuniga lost by pin (3:20) to Rainier Colina at 113 pounds.

Hercules lost by pin (3:30) to Cody Carter at 170 pounds.

The Bulldogs will compete against Pacheco today in Ceres at 6 p.m.
