Admission will be charged at the gate.

Tri-tip sandwiches, soda and water will be sold. La Perla Tapatia donated the meat.

Western Athletic Conference members Ceres High and Central Valley will be co-hosting a six-team scrimmage for all three levels of football this Saturday at Bulldog Stadium.

Jason McCloskey, varsity head coach of the Hawks, came up with the idea.

Bulldogs leader Bret Durossette set up the schedules.

"We have people coming to our community," Durossette said. "It's a great thing for both high schools. It's a win-win. I hope everybody stays healthy."

"Bret deserves all the credit as far as organizing it," McCloskey added. "It's a good way to help make some money for both of our programs."

Varsity scrimmages will get underway at 1 p.m.

Ceres High will battle Weston Ranch (Valley Oak League) and West of Tracy (Tri-City Athletic League).

"We want to showcase what we have," Durossette said. "We can do so many different things out of our offense."

Central Valley will take on East Union (VOL) and Modesto High (Modesto Metro Conference).

"Obviously, we'd like to see positive things," McCloskey said. "It would be great if we stuffed some teams on defense and moved the ball on offense. But it's a scrimmage. You're going to have your ups and downs. The goal is to get better. We're trying to tune up everything before we play for real next week."
The Bulldogs and Hawks will not face off this weekend.

"We both didn't think it would be right to scrimmage each other," Durossette said. "This is a community event. We'll play the last game of the season."

The 2013 season will get underway on Aug. 30.

Central Valley will compete against Manteca (VOL) at Bulldog Stadium.

Ceres High and Modesto High will square off at Downey.
