The Ceres High School Girls Summer Basketball League season came to a close earlier this month.

The Bulldogs dropped their final game, 63-48, to Oakdale on Thursday, July 1 at Phil de la Porte Gymnasium. The Mustangs avenged a 54-39 blowout sustained on June 10.

"It's not about winning or losing," assistant coach Vanessa Morris said. "This is a time for us to improve. We're getting better."

Stephanie Yankovich, Ashton Frampton, Bryce Ford, Lili Jaimes and Bethany Mazza all contributed on offense.

Yankovich led the way with a team-high 18 points.

Frampton, Ford, Jaimes and Mazza tallied 10, nine, seven and four points, respectively.

The Bulldogs trailed 32-19 at halftime.

Ceres High's summer schedule included games against Oakdale, Grace Davis, Downey, Hughson and Denair. The Bulldogs played a total of eight games.

Ceres High will compete in the Western Athletic Conference during the 2010-11 school year.

"We just have to keep working hard," Morris said. "I'll guarantee we'll be in shape. We'll also need to box out, rebound and talk. Those are three keys."
