The streak is over.

With Roland Salazar, Kyle Fliflet, Andi Perez and Jose Magana leading the way, the Ceres High boys tennis team beat the Merced Bears 3-2 in Merced on Thursday and ended a seven-game losing streak.

"We just pulled it out," said Ceres coach Brandon Moring.

The Bulldogs improved to 2-10 in the Central California Conference standings.

The Bears fell to 0-11 in league.

Ceres, which hadn't won a match in 22 days, took two of three singles and one of two doubles matches from Merced. The Bulldogs played without two of their top players--Kenny Strangio and David Davilla. Warren McDonald and Carlos Jara filled in for Strangio and Davilla at No. 1 doubles. Andi Perez took Jara's spot on the No. 2 doubles team.

"Our No. 1 doubles team wasn't even there," Moring said.

Salazar defeated Merced's Sean Golbad 6-2, 6-3 in No. 2 singles play.

Fliflet defeated Merced's Andrew Zajac 6-2, 6-3 in No. 3 singles play.

Perez and Magana defeated Merced's Ben Read and Stephan Doser in three sets, 1-6, 6-1, 6-1 in No. 2 doubles play.

"That was huge for us," Moring said. "Jose and Andi hadn't played much all year but rose to the challenge and got the win for us."

G. Singh defeated Ceres' Russell Alcorn 6-1, 6-2 in No. 1 singles play.

Jared Petker and Ryan Keeler defeated Ceres' Warren McDonald and Carlos Jara 6-2, 6-0 in No. 1 doubles play.

Ceres collected its first league win on March 11 in Merced. The Bulldogs edged the Bears 3-2.

Pats top Dawgs

Beyer beat Ceres High 4-1 in Modesto on Wednesday.

The Patriots won one of three singles and two doubles matches.

Beyer improved to 5-8 in the CCC, while Ceres fell to 1-10 in league.

Michael Hunger beat Russell Alcorn in three sets, 6-1, 5-7, 6-4 in No. 1 singles play.

Salazar beat Beyer's Matt Brody in three sets, 6-3, 2-6, 6-4, in No. 2 singles play.

Michael Martin beat Fliflet 6-3, 6-1 in No. 3 singles play.

Victor Paredes and Jian Salcedo beat Kenny Strangio and McDonald 6-2, 7-5 in No. 1 doubles play.

Tyler Martin and John Azevedo beat Jara and Magana 6-0, 6-0 in No. 2 doubles play.

Turlock beats Ceres

Ceres High faced first-place Turlock on Tuesday, April 6.

Host Turlock won three singles and two double matches en route to a 5-0 victory over Ceres.

Host Turlock didn't lose a single set en route to a 5-0 victory over Ceres at Ceres High School.

Ceres fell to 1-9 in the CCC.

Turlock improved to 10-0 in league.

Jesus Marin beat Alcorn 6-0, 6-0 in No. 1 singles play.

Kenny Cotter beat Salazar 6-0, 6-0 in No. 2 singles play.

David Joachimmeyer beat Fliflet 6-0, 6-1 in No. 3 singles play.

Jared Guevara and Martin Schellnick beat Strangio and McDonald 6-0, 6-0 in No. 1 doubles play.
