Central Valley High School's football program hosted its first seven-on-seven passing league scrimmage of the summer on June 15.

The Hawks outscored the Beyer Patriots, 42-36.

Central Valley had seven touchdowns.

"We expect more," Hawks head coach Tim Garcia said while addressing his team after the two-hour battle. "We got to eliminate the mistakes. We got to grow and get better everyday."

Central Valley quarterback Abraham Navarro completed 25 of 49 passes with six touchdowns and just one interception.

Kenny Lopez, Navarro's backup, finished 4-for-9 with one TD and three picks. Lopez also caught a touchdown pass while playing receiver.

Ja'Quan Gardner totaled 10 catches and two touchdowns.

Greg Tripp (seven catches) and Anthony Centeno (five catches) also scored twice.

Four of Navarro's final seven completions resulted in touchdowns. Gardner had two, while Tripp and Centeno both added one.

Central Valley's defense allowed six touchdowns.

Beyer's quarterbacks connected on 22 of 45 pass attempts.

"It was an overall, good team effort," Tripp said. "I liked the communication we had on offense. Everyone knew their plays. Once season comes, we're going to be pretty dominant on both sides of the ball. We have chemistry and athletes."
