The 32nd annual Lions Club All-Star High School Football Game will be played at University of the Pacific's Stagg Memorial Stadium on Saturday.

Three recent graduates from Ceres High, including Brian Borges, Derrick Goblirsch and Nick Eudy, will suit up for the South team.

"We get to play under the lights at UOP," said Goblirsch, who will split time at quarterback with Beyer's Kyle Loretelli. "It's going to be fun playing with the players I've competed against the last four years."

Said Borges: "I'm looking forward to playing again. I miss it."

Added Eudy: "I can't wait to hit some more people again."

Goblirsch, Borges and Eudy led Ceres High to its first league title in 18 years in 2004-05. The Bulldogs won a share of the Modesto Metro Conference championship--just their third league crown since 1968--and secured a berth in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I playoffs for the second year in a row.

Goblirsch, Borges and Eudy were all-league selections.

Borges earned first-team, all-league honors on defense. The hard-hitting safety ranked fourth in the Stanislaus District and first in the MMC with six interceptions, five of which came in the final six games. He also had 90 tackles and one fumble recovery.

Goblirsch earned second-team, all-league honors on offense. He ranked second in the District and first in the MMC in passing. The second-year starter passed for 1,932 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Eudy earned second-team, all-league honors on defense. The speedy defensive lineman managed to register 80 tackles and four sacks despite being double teamed most of the year.

Goblirsch, Borges and Eudy practiced for the first time with their new teammates on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Modesto High School. This week, they will attend practice and stay in dorms at Cal State Stanislaus until game day.

"It's going to be weird on Wednesday," Goblirsch said. "We're going to scrimmage against each other for the first time."

Goblirsch and Borges have been teammates for five years. They met in the sixth grade while playing Pop-Warner football. They spent two seasons with the Ceres Falcons. Goblirsch and Borges played three years together at Ceres High, including two at the varsity level.

Eudy played for the rival Ceres Cowboys in the sixth grade. He teamed up with Borges and Goblirsch for four and three years, respectively, in high school.

"We're good friends," Borges said.

Golbirsch, Borges and Eudy plan to play for the Modesto Junior College Pirates football team in 2005-06.

The Lions All-Star contest starts at 7 p.m.
