Ceres High secures sweep over Los Banos in track and field

Ceres High School’s varsity track and field program opened the Western Athletic Conference dual-meet season in impressive fashion on March 18 at Bulldog Stadium.

“We felt really good going into the meet,” Bulldogs head coach Brett Johnson said. “Our kids rose to the occasion. They did really well.”

Ceres High’s boys coasted to a 90-45 win over Los Banos.

Kevin Moita placed first in the 200 and 100.

Isaac Leon placed first in the 800 and 1,600.

Josh Madariaga placed first in the 3,200.

Tristan Dray placed first in the 300 hurdles, and second in the 110 hurdles and high jump.

Conner Johnson placed first in the shot put and second in the discus.

Seth Gibson placed first in the 110 hurdles and long jump, and third in the high jump.

Johnni Smith-Willis placed second in the 200 and 100.

Ulises Diaz placed second in the 400.

Manuel Baez placed second in the 800.

Christian Linarez placed second in the 1,600.

Trevor Nash placed second in the triple jump.

Luis Calderon placed second in the shot put.

Cristian Sotero placed third in the 200 and 100.

Marcellus Boykins placed third in the 400.

Myron Sichanpheng placed third in the triple jump.

Ceres High’s 4x100 relay team of Smith-Willis, Diaz, Moita and Veeti Partanen placed first.

Ceres High’s 4x400 relay team of Gibson, Diaz, Dray and Moita placed first.

Ceres High’s girls cruised to a 93-42 victory against Los Banos.

Sydney Elness placed first in the high jump, triple jump and long jump.

Lisette Carretero placed first in the 1,600.

Marcella Puducay placed first in the discus.

Nichole Parker placed first in the shot put.

Azia Brewster placed first in the 100 hurdles, and second in the 100 and high jump.

Mallynda Benjamin placed first in the 100 and second in the 200.

Haleigh Leazer placed second in the 1,600.

Kaylee Holloway placed second in the 400.

Saray Gonzalez placed second in the discus.

Alexis Sanchez placed second in the shot put.

Ashley Schmidt placed third in the high jump and triple jump.
