CHS girls run to 12th place finish in hills

The members of Ceres High's and Central Valley's cross country programs tried their best while competing at the Sac-Joaquin Sub-Section Division III Championships on Saturday, Nov. 5 in Angel's Camp.

Ceres High's varsity girls placed 12th in the standings with a team score of 315.

Cecilia Carretero was the Bulldogs' top finisher. She took 38th in 21 minutes, 31 seconds.

Bulldog teammates Bryce Ford (22:00), Lisette Carretero (22:32), Dia Borden (22:36) and Angelica Slater (22:55) finished 58th, 71st, 72nd and 76th, respectively, on the 3-mile Frogtown course.

Central Valley's Andrea Rodriguez placed 118th (24:39).

Ceres High's varsity boys posted a team score of 726 (23rd place).

The Bulldogs' lineup consisted of Christian Stein (128th, 20:30), Bret Gonzalez (133rd, 20:39), Manuel Hernandez (147th, 22:02), Fernando Madrigal (158th, 23:46) and Isaiah Henry (160th, 25:12).

Bulldog Judas Chavarin had a standout performance in the Sophomore Boys Division. He placed third (11:51) in a field of 100 during the 2-mile race.

Ceres High's Lorenzo Trinidad (14:49) and Jordan Mey (15:59) finished 71st and 89th, respectively.

Hawk Kevin Martinez took 75th (14:59).

Central Valley's Alex Tovar (22:37), Jesus Pulido (22:37) and German Godinez (24:49) placed 120th, 121st and 146th in JV Boys 3-4-5 Division.

Hawk teammates Miriam Gontiz (28:00), Harpreet Kaur (29:49) and Fabiola Noguez (30:17) finished 79th, 98th and 99th.

Ceres High's Jeanette Torrez took 62nd in the Frosh-Soph Girls Division III.

Bulldog Toni Garcia finished 105th (19:09).

Central Valley's Karla Rodriguez (18:27) and Karina Miranda (18:58) placed 97th and 103rd.

Bulldog Manuel Baez took 42nd (14:33) in the Freshman Boys Division III.
