Host Central Valley High School handled undermanned Ceres High in varsity track and field last Wednesday.

"All of my kids looked real good today," Hawks head coach Mike Reynolds said. "They were motivated."

Central Valley's boys improved to 2-1 in the Valley Oak League following their 91-44 triumph over the winless Bulldogs.

"It's just another thing we beat them in," senior Sean McLeod said.

"It's always important to do good because it's such a big rivalry," Ceres High sophomore Brandon Jolley said. "If we had more people, it would have helped out. But you can't do anything about it."

McLeod, Kunal Jamnadas, Joaquin Casas, Ernesto Plancarte, Junior Reyes, Ross Henry, Juan Martinez, Gerald Garcia, Robert Morgan, Rudy Reynoso, Christian Martinez, Jon Berrios, Oscar Tovar and Tony Cordova led the Hawks.

Sean placed first in the shot put with a personal-best mark of 45 feet, 11 inches on his third throw.

"It came off my hand good and I got a good push off my back leg," said McLeod, a 6-foot-2, 265-pound senior.

Jamnadas swept the 100 (11.62) and 200 (24.34). Kunal also ran a leg on both of Central Valley's winning relay squads. Jamnadas, Berrios, Reyes and Casas teamed up to place first in the 4x100 relay (47.31). Kunal, John, Gerald and Rudy combined to win the 4x400 relay (3:55.94).

"I could have done better but I didn't because the people around me weren't pushing me," Jamnadas said.

Casas placed first in the long jump (18-6) and triple jump (37-8).

Plancarte placed first in the 300 hurdles (48.81), second in the 110 hurdles (21.18) and triple jump (36-10), and third in the long jump.

Reyes placed first in the pole vault (8-6) and second in the 100 (11.87).

Henry placed first in the high jump (5-6), and third in the 110 hurdles (21.20) and 300 hurdles (51.90).

Juan Martinez placed second in the 1,600 (5:14.72) and 3,200 (11:52.65).

Garcia placed second in the pole vault (6-7) and long jump (17-5), and third in the 100 (12.65).

Morgan placed second in the high jump (5-4) and 400 (56.34).

Reynoso placed second in the 800 (2:24.94) and third in the 400 (58.93).

Christian Martinez placed second in the shot put (36-101/4) and third in the discus (88-10).

Tovar placed third in the 3,200 (12:41.74).

Cordova placed third in the pole vault (6-7).

Alejandro Garcia, Nick Sandoval, Ricky Raya, Dustin Espinoza, Leo Olide, Brandon Jolley, Gabriel Sanchez, Mario Hernandez and Sam Coulter turned in standout performances for the Bulldogs (0-3 VOL).

Garcia, a sophomore, won the 3,200 (10:50) and 1,600 (4:56) in dominant fashion.

"I was surprised that I PR'd in both because I didn't have any competition," he said.

Sandoval placed first in the 400 (56.02) and second in the 200 (27.24).

Raya placed first in the 110 hurdles (20.94) and second in the 300 hurdles (49.85).

Espinoza placed first in the 800 (2:24.09) and third in the 1,600 (5:18.06).

Olide placed first in the discus (119-11/2).

Jolley, a sophomore, placed second in the discus with a personal-best toss (115) and third in the shot put (35-1).

"It felt good when I threw it," he said. "I pretty much was thinking it was going to be a PR."

Sanchez placed third in the 800 (2:28.46).

Hernandez placed third in the 200 (27.43).

Coulter placed third in the high jump (5-4).

Central Valley's girls moved to 2-1 in league after posting a 106-27 victory against Ceres High.

The Hawks were led by Latrisha Jordan, Adrianna Mendez, Tailorae Levell, Destiny Brazil, Audra Cabusas, Brooke Davis, Jasveen Brar, Marissa Cabusas, Danni Sandoval, Erica Marmolejo, Nicole Weese, Hilary Jones, Veronica Haro, Madalyn Khut and Monika DeLeon.

Jordan dominated the 100 hurdles (15.90), 300 hurdles (46.18) and 200 (26.81). She also teamed up with Brar, Sandoval and Marissa Cabusas to win the 4x400 relay.

"It's hard for me to push myself because the competition is not as high," Latrisha said. "I'm racing against myself."

Brazil, Brar, Levell and Marissa Cabusas teamed up to win the 4x100 relay.

Mendez placed first in the 3,200 (13:52.2), 1,600 (6:25.34) and 800 (2:51.62).

Brazil placed first in the long jump (13-3), second in the 100 (15.50) and third in the 200 (34.72).

Audra Cabusas placed first in the shot put (33-41/2) and second in the discus (75-3).

Davis placed first in the discus (84-11) and third in the shot put (23-101/4).

Brar placed first in the 400 (1:07.43).

Marissa Cabusas placed second in the 100 hurdles (18.02) and 300 hurdles (18.02).

Sandoval placed second in the 400 (1:09.50) and high jump (4-4).

Marmolejo placed second in the shot put (24-01/2).

Weese placed second in the pole vault (5-6).

Jones placed second in the long jump (13-0).

Haro placed third in the 1,600 (6:49.46) and 800 (3:12.24).

Khut placed third in the 3,200 (15:09.15).

DeLeon placed third in the pole vault (5-0).

Angie Prak, Kristyne Thomas, Mayra Abreo, Jasmit Dhillon, Brenda Teng and Nichole Brown scored points for the 0-3 Bulldogs.

Prak placed first in the pole vault (6-0), and third in the 100 hurdles (20.12) and 300 hurdles (1:01.90).

Thomas placed first in the triple jump (28-9).

Abreo placed second in the 3,200 (14:46.06), 1,600 (6:46.68) and 800 (2:57.62).

Dhillon placed second in the triple jump (27-11) and third in the long jump (12-8).

Teng placed third in the discus (69-71/4).

Brown placed third in the triple jump (26-10).
