Members of the Central Valley High boys cross country team concluded their inaugural season with outstanding performances at the Sac-Joaquin Section Division IV Meet on Friday in Folsom.

“They all did amazing,” said Hawks coach Sirena Alvarez. “Angel (Segura) medaled. The other two (Rudy Reynoso and Juan Martinez) missed medaling by one person.”

Segura and Reynoso participated in the sophomore race.

Segura finished eighth overall in a field of 37. He completed the 2-mile course in 12 minutes, 27 seconds. Segura finished strong.

“He was in the middle pack for the first mile,” Alvarez said.

Reynoso placed 20th overall in 13:06.

Martinez placed 11th (13:39) in a field of 21 in the freshman race.

“None of them were expecting to do that well,” Alvarez said. “This is the first year for all of them to run long distance.” - By DALE BUTLER / Staff reporter of the Ceres (Calif.) Courier
