Central Valley High School's freshman girls basketball team continued its winning ways with a 3-0 sweep at the Turlock Tournament last week.

"They work so well together," Hawks coach Julie Gant said.

Central Valley topped Hilmar 53-31 for the championship on Saturday.

Center Eva Noorzai tallied a team-high 18 points for the Hawks, who improved to 9-0 on the year. Lizette Covarrubias, Myra Naranjo and Alyssa Long had 12, 11 and eight points apiece. Maricruz Rivas and Jessica Berndt collected five and two points, respectively.

"We were missing everything in the beginning," Gant said. "All of a sudden it came together. They worked the press really good on our team but we were able to break it."

The Hawks sealed the win with a 23-7 surge in the fourth. Noorzai netted 12 points.

Eva poured in a game-high 15 points during Central Valley's 32-19 triumph over Patterson in a second-round game on Friday.

Naranjo, Long and Anicia Camarillo chipped in six points each.

Long had 12 points, Naranjo scored nine and Noorzai added eight as the Hawks secured a 45-34 victory against host Turlock in the first round on Thursday.

Covarrubias and Camarillo contributed seven and four points, respectively.
