Central Valley High School's varsity girls soccer team concluded its preseason schedule with a disappointing 1-0 loss to Summerville on Wednesday in Ceres.

The Hawks dropped to 3-3-3 on the year. The Bears improved to 4-0.

"I haven't seen them play like that since our first game," Central Valley head coach Cyndi Meshach said. "They just weren't there mentally. Not everybody was on the same page. It was pretty bizarre to watch."

Summerville controlled the pace of the game with its kick-and-run style of play.

"A big part of the problem was our passive attitude," Meshach said. "It spread like wildfire."

The Hawks also struggled on offense.

"We took just five shots the whole game," Meshach said. "They weren't clicking like they have been."

Central Valley will travel to Weston Ranch on Thursday. The league game will get underway at 6:30 p.m.
