The Ceres Dolphins recreational swim club topped the Modesto Sharks and Turlock Marlins on Saturday at Pitman High School.

Ceres finished with a team score of 1,371.

Modesto and Turlock totaled 611 and 338 points, respectively.

The Dolphins improved to 3-3 in the MVSL standings.

"We had some really good performances," Ceres head coach Tracy Bull said. "It was nice to beat Modesto because they beat us by five points last year."

Ceres' girls racked up 900 points.

Jadyn Shinn (7-8 girls) dominated three events and finished the regular season undefeated.

Payton Mahu (13-14 girls) finally beat Dolphin teammate Haley Fisicaro. Mahu bested Fisicaro by 0.14 seconds in the 50 fly.

"That was the best individual race of the day," Bull said.

Ceres' Julia Pata (11-12 girls) posted a personal-best time (32.76) while placing third in the 50 free.

"We think she's a superstar in the making," Bull said.

The Dolphins' 9-10 girls 200 free relay team of Katrina Guevara, Amy Holliday, Portia Padilla and Ciana Sather placed first in 2:26.88. They edged out Turlock's quartet by 23 one-hundredths of a second.

"It was electrifying," Bull said.
