The Ceres Earthquakes under-10 competitive boys soccer team compiled a near-perfect 12-1-1 record during the Bill Meyer League Mini-Season, which got underway in January and ended last month.
The Earthquakes received contributions from 13 different players during the year, including Trace Brown, Trey Collins, Evan Cooper, Anthony Mendoza, Adrian Mora, Cruz Phe, Diego Rodriguez, Gurbrinder Singh, Isaac Sosa, Elijah Vas Dinis, Nicholas Vieyra, Isaac Yepiz and Jason Zuniga.
"We didn't have the talent we had last year," coach Alfredo Campos said. "But the chemistry was so much better. They bonded like crazy. Their conditioning was amazing. These boys believed in themselves. It was awesome."
The Earthquakes won all four of their games while finishing in first place at the CYSA North Division 8 Bill Meyer League end-of-season tournament, staged March 1-2 at Merced College.
Ceres beat Modesto 7-0 and Stockton 4-2 on March 2.
The Earthquakes topped Stockton 2-1 and Merced 5-0 on March 1.
Ceres opened the season with a 3-2 loss to Atwater.
The Earthquakes collected 12 wins and one tie after opening the season with a 3-2 loss to Atwater.
