The Ceres Earthquake FC OOg under-14 competitive girls soccer team posted a 3-1 record while placing first overall at the Champions Cup, staged Sept. 26-27, at Manteca's Woodward Park.

"I am very proud of the girls," coach Roger Sandoval said. "I know they can compete with any team. I can't wait to see them play and flourish when they start playing at the high-school level. I have three players that will be starting high-school soccer soon."

The Ceres Earthquake FC 00g squad earned the title after topping Ceres Earthquake FC Elite 3-0 on Sept. 27.

Abby Osgood, a guest player from Manteca United, accounted for two of Ceres' goals.

Amanda Calvo scored once.

Jazzmyn Garcia collected two assists.

Yesenia Zuniga had one assist.

"I expected it to be a little more competitive," Sandoval said. "It was for the first half of the opening half. The girls stayed focused the whole time. We controlled the game and frustrated them. They're basically like our crosstown rivals. A lot of the girls go to school together."

Sandoval's team (30 points) finished ahead of American River FC Freedom (24), West Coast Soccer Wrath (15), Ceres Earthquake FC Elite (13) and North State Soccer Missfits Renegades (9) in the standings.
The Earthquake FC OOg squad topped West Coast Soccer Wrath 2-1 on Sept. 27.

Ceres won one of two games during the opening day of the tournament on Sept. 26.

The Earthquakes shut out North State Soccer 4-0.

Ceres lost 2-1 to American River FC.

The Earthquake FC OOg team roster at the Champions Cup consisted of Osgood, Calvo, Zuniga, Garcia, Emely Lopez, Masey Amador, Mixtly Vega, Aryanna Madrigal, Sarahi Contreras, Jocelyn Rodriguez, Jamani Prince, Jacquelyn Sanchez, Alex Rivera, Jessie Lawrence and Marianna Garibay.
