Ceres High School's boys summer basketball team faced the Ceres Shock on June 29.

The Shock, an AAU squad with a roster filled with players from crosstown-rival Central Valley, dominated from start to finish in posting a 41-27 victory over the Bulldogs.

"You're running, sweating and hot," said Parker Griffin, a 6-foot-4 200-pound post player for the Shock. "It's basically like a pickup game. I don't take any grudges home with me. I leave it all on the court."

Griffin teamed up with fellow Hawks Jaron Dickson, Jordan Sek, Diego Sanchez, Juan Manriquez, Tranjit Singh, Robert Preciado, Inayat Sahota, Mohak Kumar and Amrit Chahal.

Ceres High competed short-handed as Bulldog standouts Jimbo Pernetti (baseball) and Harman Chung (family vacation) had other commitments. Caden Johnson, Abel Reyes, Jr. Garcia, Angel Garcia, Michael Ghimenti, Terry Brogdon and Jacob Edwards all received playing time.

"It was a very physical game," Parker said. "I just tried to play smart."
