Central Valley's Victor Tubera captured the 152-pound title at the 43rd edition of the Ceres High wrestling tournament on Saturday.

The senior won all three of his matches.

"I kept my eye on the goal," said Tubera, the No. 2 seed. "I wasn't settling for anything less than first place."

Victor edged top-seeded Aaron Sanchez of Livermore 2-0 for the championship. He scored on a takedown in the first round.

"It was a great feeling after I won," Tubera said. "This is my hometown. My heart was pounding. I felt like jumping but I was exhausted."

Fellow Hawk Cody Melton took sixth in the 126-pound division.

Central Valley finished in 14th place at the 17-team event
