Central Valley High School's varsity baseball team dropped three straight games last week after posting back-to-back wins.

Central Valley lost 13-2 to visiting Bret Harte on Thursday.

The Hawks batted just .167 (4-for-24) as a team against the Bullfrogs.

Martin Gomez collected two singles and one RBI in four at-bats.

Brian Creek singled and drove in a run.

Chris Moscozo accounted for Central Valley's fourth hit.

Jesse Perea and Luis Rodriguez both scored once.

Moscozo, William Mestas and Greg Guerra pitched.

Mestas picked up the loss. He surrendered seven runs on five hits and two walks in 11/3 innings. William had one strikeout.

Moscozo lasted three innings. He gave up five runs on five hits, two walks and one hit batsmen with three strikeouts.

Guerra yielded one unearned run and two walks in 22/3 innings of work.

The Hawks suffered a 1-0 loss at Downey High School on Wednesday.

The Knights scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Gomez, Central Valley's ace pitcher, fanned 11 batters with five walks and two hit batsmen in 81/3 innings. He gave up one run and two hits.

The Hawks struggled on offense (4-for-27).

Creek, Guerra, Rodriguez and Scott Myatt all singled.

Modesto High roughed up host Central Valley, 10-1, on Tuesday, March 3.

Creek, the Hawks' starting pitcher, lasted four innings. He surrendered sevens runs (six earned) on three hits and seven walks. Brian struck out six Panthers.

In three innings of relief, Rodriguez allowed three runs (two earned), three hits and three walks. He tallied three strikeouts and beaned one batter.

Central Valley totaled six hits off Modesto High pitcher Kevin Grimes, who fanned six and walked none over seven innings.

Myatt and Israel Trevino both doubled and singled in three at-bats.

Rodriguez singled and scored a run.

Angel Gallegos had one hit.
