Central Valley High School's boys basketball team dropped to 3-5 in Modesto Junior College Summer League play after sustaining a pair of losses on Tuesday, June 30.

"They're out here trying really hard," head coach Darryl Dickson said. "I appreciate that. It's going to pay off in the long run."

Gary Ney, Gabe Villegas and Sunny Moun had seven points apiece in the Hawks' 59-35 loss to Pitman in Game 2.

Brian Blunt and Salinder Singh scored six and four points, respectively.

Jamal Wessinger and Cristian Gil contributed two points each.

Blunt poured in a team-high 14 points as Central Valley fell 56-40 to Oakdale in Game 1.

Ney tallied 11 points.

Singh, Wessinger and Gil collected eight, four and two points, respectively.

Moun had one point.

"I'm disappointed with some of our lack of execution," Dickson said. "We have to work better as a team and limit our turnovers. There's a bigger commitment that's needed to compete."
