Brian Blunt walked slowly to the bench with five-plus minutes remaining in Central Valley High School's Modesto Junior College Summer League boys basketball contest against Summerville.

The standout point guard pulled his jersey over his head in frustration as the Hawks suffered their second straight loss on Tuesday, July 7.

Central Valley fell 44-37 to the Bears and 49-45 to East Union.

"If we make our layups and free throws, we win those games," Blunt said. "It's a lack of concentration. That's all it is. It's frustrating."

Brian tallied a team-high 11 points against Summerville.

Ronald McNeil buried two treys and converted a layup on his way to scoring eight points.

Gary Ney contributed five points.

Jamal Wessinger and Ryan Sandner chipped in three points apiece.

Salinder Singh, Sunny Moun and Nate Villegas finished with two points each.

Cristian Gil added one point.

The Hawks trailed 20-16 at intermission.

Blunt had 17 points, Ney scored 10 of his 15 points in the opening half and Singh added nine points in Central Valley's setback to the Lancers during Game 1.

East Union put the game out of reach when it converted a layup with less than five seconds to play.

Blunt missed a potential, go-ahead 3 with 1:05 left in the game.

The Hawks faced a 12-point deficit midway through the second half.

Central Valley rallied behind the stellar play of Blunt, Singh, Ney and Wessinger.

Blunt totaled six points, Singh and Ney both scored five, and Wessinger contributed two during an 18-8 run.

Salinder's 3 from the right baseline cut the deficit to 47-45 with 2:30 left on the clock.

The Hawks lost by a combined 11 points to East Union and Summerville last week.

"Obviously, there's room for improvement," Blunt said. "We'll get better."
