Central Valley High School's varsity wrestling team topped crosstown-rival Ceres High and tradition-rich Los Banos surprisingly easy this past week.

"They're our biggest competition and we beat them," Hawks senior grappler Jason Beckhart said. "I thought the team scores would be closer."

Central Valley notched its 15th straight Western Athletic Conference dual-meet victory dating back to the 2013-14 season with a 54-15 rout of Los Banos on Wednesday in Ceres.

"We focused on being mentally tough and finishing matches," Hawks head coach Rob Beckhart said.

Central Valley improved to 7-1 overall and 3-0 in the conference standings.

The Hawks had a combined record of 12-0 against WAC opponents the previous two seasons.

"There's always added pressure," Jason Beckhart said. "Every team wants to beat us. They don't want us to have a third undefeated season. We just have to keep working hard."

Beckhart won by forfeit at 221 pounds versus the Tigers (1-1).

Host Central Valley led from start to finish in dominating Ceres High 53-21 on Jan. 12.

"We don't really focus on that," coach Beckhart said. "We focus on our opponents. The kids have done a great job responding."

"This team is really close," Jason Beckhart said. "We're all family."
