Central Valley High School varsity boys distance runner Ben Saldana placed fourth in the 3,200 and fifth in the 1,600 at the 6th Annual Dean Andreessen Classic on March 1 in Atwater.

Saldana posted personal-best times in both events (10:30.07, 4:54.61).

"He had a good showing," Hawks head coach Mike Reynolds said. "Overall, we had a lot of kids do pretty well. We competed."

Kenneth Padilla placed first in the pole vault (10-6) and ninth in the high jump (5-2).

Jose Uribe placed third in the discus (144) and seventh in the shot put (43-81/2).

Ceres High's Kevin Moita placed second in the 200 (24.03) and seventh in the 100 (12.55).

Tristan Dray placed third in the high jump (5-10) and fourth in the 300 hurdles (47.83).

Jacob Edwards placed third in the triple jump (38-61/2) and seventh in the long jump (17-8).

Seth Gibson placed third in the 110 hurdles (17.60) and ninth in the 300 hurdles (47.83).

Tomas Rocha placed fifth in the 800 (2:14.16).

Ceres High's 4x400 relay team of Moita, Dray, Gibson and Judas Chavarin placed sixth (3:44.92).

Central Valley's 4x100 varsity girls relay team of Heaven Simon, Kristie Del Valle, Emerald Gutierrez and Sherlyn Hernandez placed first (54.27).

Simon placed first in the 300 hurdles (48.74) second in the 400 (1:02.71) and seventh in the 200 (28.69).

Karina Miranda placed fourth in the 800 (2:59.64) and seventh in the 1,600 (7:24.23).

Hernandez placed fifth in the 200 (28.27) and sixth in the 100 (14.24).

Ceres High's Gykisha Smith placed first in the 100 hurdles (17.24) and fifth in the 100 (14.17).

Ceres High's 4x100 relay team of Smith, Claudia Jimenez, Kyla Bassard and Mallynda Benjamin placed third (55.21).

Jimenez placed sixth in the 400 (1:12.43).
