Ceres High School's varsity baseball team improved to 7-3 on the year after winning three of four games this past week.

The Bulldogs beat Johansen 2-0 on Friday at Art McRae Field.

Merrik Price allowed no runs and three hits with six strikeouts and one walk while pitching a complete game.

Price batted 1-for-3 from the plate with one run.

Caleb McDade batted 3-for-3.

Brett Conway batted 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Drew Stahl batted 1-for-3 with one run.

Haaydn Martinez collected one RBI.

Brad and Brent Bussard both doubled.

Ceres High defeated visiting Grace Davis 13-3 on Thursday.

Ismael Ontiveros gave up one run and two hits with four strikeouts and two walks in 21/3 innings.

Ricky Lopez batted 1-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs.

Brent Bussard batted 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBIs and two runs.

Brad Bussard batted 3-for-4 with one RBI and three runs.

Cole Silva batted 1-for-2 with two RBIs.

Ceres High shut out Franklin 11-0 on Wednesday in Stockton.

Brad Bussard surrendered just two hits and fanned four batters in four innings.

Price batted 2-for-4 with one double and four RBIs.

Lopez batted 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs.

Conway batted 1-for-3 with two runs.

McDade and Martinez each batted 1-for-2 with one RBI and one run.

Silva scored twice.

Ceres High lost 11-6 at Cosumnes Oaks on March 9.

Stahl had six strikeouts and two walks in four innings. He yielded five runs and six hits.

Price and Brad Bussard each batted 2-for-4 with one RBI and one run.

Central Valley's varsity baseball team won one of its two non-conference games last week.

Central Valley edged Downey 4-3 on March 9 in Modesto.

Mikie Lopez pitched a complete game, allowing one earned run and five hits with seven strikeouts.

Moses Ghiorso batted 1-for-3 with one triple, three RBIs and one run.

Andrew Brekke batted 2-for-3.

Alex Centeno batted 1-for-2 with one run.

Gabriel Quezada batted 1-for-3 with one run.

Robert Nieto scored once.

Israel Anaya, Robert Vargas, Ben Ortiz, Angel Gonzales and Jorge Alvarez all singled.

Central Valley lost 10-0 at Manteca on Thursday.

Central Valley (3-5) will play host to Ceres High today.

The Hawks and Bulldogs will face off at Art McRae Field on Friday. Both games will begin at 4 p.m.
