Ceres High School's varsity baseball team played three times in a three-day span last week.

"We hit the ball well," Bulldogs head coach Clinton Goblirsch said. "Pitching wise, we got to cut down on our walks. Defensively, we've made too many errors. We'll clean it up."

Ceres High won its fourth straight game on March 8 with a 4-1 victory over visiting Mountain House at Art McRae Field.

Bulldog Haaydn starred at pitcher and contributed on offense as well.

Martinez tossed a completed game.

Haaydn yielded one run and five hits with five strikeouts and one walk in seven innings.

Martinez batted 1-for-3 from the plate with one run.

Austin Kubala batted 1-for-2 with one RBI and one run.

Blane Abeyta batted 2-for-3 with one RBI and one stolen base.

Steven Brown batted 1-for-1 with one RBI.

Adrian Lujan doubled.

Ismael Ontiveros had one single and one stolen base.

Downey dealt Ceres High its first loss of the season.

The Knights defeated the Bulldogs 9-5 on Wednesday in Ceres.

Kubala batted 1-for-3 with one RBI and one run in defeat.

Abeyta batted 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Nick Jones batted 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Lujan batted 1-for-4 with one RBI.

Ontiveros batted 1-for-4 with one run.

Zach Kommavong and Eric Davis both collected one RBI.

Ricky Lopez scored one run.

Jacob Martinez singled.

Lopez was Ceres High's starting pitcher.

Ricky gave up eight runs and four hits with one strikeout and one walk in four innings.

Kommavong had one strikeout and two walks while tossing three innings of relief.

Zach surrendered one run and one hit.

Ceres High dropped to 4-2 on the year following Thursday's 13-5 setback at Merced.

The Bulldogs contributed to their own demise by committing four errors.

Lopez batted 1-for-3 with one double, two RBIs and one run.

Haaydn Martinez batted 1-for-4 with one double, one RBI and one run.

Kubala batted 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Kommavong batted 1-for-2 with one run.

Abeyta and Damion Reyes tallied one run each.
Lujan singled.

Jones' second start at pitcher lasted 22/3 innings. Nick (1-1) gave up 10 runs (five earned) and seven hits with one strikeout and three walks.

The Bulldogs made a combined seven errors against Downey and Merced.
