Tyress Pope made history while starring on Central Valley High School's freshman football team in 2012.

He rushed for a single-season-record 1,002 yards.

Jonathan Barragan eclipsed Pope's all-time mark while leading the Hawks to a 46-8 win over crosstown-rival Ceres High on Nov. 7 at Bulldog Stadium.

Barragan totaled 1,027 yards this year.

"All the credit goes to my offensive linemen and my coaching staff," he said. "Without them, none of this would have happened."

The Hawks posted a 7-3 record and finished second in the WAC standings (5-1).

The Bulldogs went 1-9 and 1-5.

Barragan piled up 160 yards and three touchdowns on 19 carries against Ceres High.

He was supposed to contribute at receiver in 2013.

"I didn't think I was going to play running back," Jonathan said. "They saw something in me."

Hawk teammate Julian Gutierrez gained 87 yards and scored twice on 10 carries versus the Bulldogs.

Chase Winchester ran for 33 yards and one TD on five carries. He also caught a 17-yard touchdown pass from Jesus Jimenez.

Gabriel Quezada added 27 rushing yards on seven attempts.

Angel Rico collected a team-high 13 tackles.

Oso Fregoso, Gabriel Quezada, Isaac Gudino and Cipriano Salazar had 10, eight, seven and six tackles, respectively.

David Lezama and Erick Gomez both registered five tackles.

Central Valley racked up 324 yards of total offense.

The Hawks limited the Bulldogs to just 108 yards.

Central Valley raced to a 27-8 lead in the first half.

Barragan and Seth Prak both set up TDs. Jonathan intercepted a pass. Prak blocked a punt.

Jonathan and Julian had two rushing touchdowns apiece.

Saul Chavez's 5-yard TD run, and Elijah Niblett's 2-point conversion pass to Aiden Moore cut the deficit to five with 5:01 to play in the second quarter.

Jimenez tossed a TD pass to Winchester at the 2:15 mark of the third quarter.

Ryan Hendrix's PAT increased the Hawks' lead to 34-8.

Barragan and Winchester accounted for Central Valley's final two scores.

Chase scored after Angel Rico picked off a pass on defense.
