Hawks' boys, girls swim squads both suffer losses

Central Valley High School’s varsity swim team dropped to 0-2 in the Western Athletic Conference dual-meet standings after falling 90-58 at Pacheco on Thursday.

Leilani Ortiz finished first in the 50 free and 100 breast.

Nina Kees finished first in the 500 free and fourth in the 100 breast.

Yuliana Garcia placed second in the 100 free Carmen Sanchez placed third in the 100 free.

Fiona Gay placed fourth in the 100 free.

Angela Mantineo placed fifth in the 200 free.

Leticia Sandoval placed sixth in the 50 free.

Central Valley’s 400 ‘A’ free relay team of Lisa Serna, Brenda Romo, Leticia Sandoval and Angela Mantineo finished first.

Central Valley’s 200 ‘A’ free relay team of Serna, Sandoval, Mantineo and Ortiz placed second.

Central Valley’s 200 ‘A’ medley relay team of Serna, Ortiz, Mantineo and Kylie Smith placed second.

Central Valley’s boys team suffered its second straight WAC dual meet loss, falling 110-35 to Pacheco.

Christian Oliver placed first in the 100 free and second in the 50 free.

Ryan Miceli placed third in the 50 free and 100 free.

Cesar Armas placed second in the 100 breast and third in the 200 free.

Logan Kenworthy placed fourth in the 50 free and 100 free.

Central Valley’s 200 ‘A’ medley relay team of Logan Kenworthy, Cesar Armas, Christian Oliver and Ryan Miceli placed second.

Central Valley’s 200 ‘A’ free relay team of Armas, Oliver, Miceli, Andy Jacinto placed second.

Central Valley will compete against visiting El Capitan on April 8 at Ceres High School.

“I just want the kids to better their times and have fun,” head coach Sarah Willems said.
